This Is Why School Placement Could Not Be Released Yesterday

The Director-General of Education; Prof. Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa had in the early hours of February 17, 2021 stated that the Ghana Education Service (GES) will release the overly delayed school placement for 2020 BECE candidates.

Although he stated categorically that the placement will be released on the Sunday, February 21, 2021, he added that the school placement release will be possible only if there are no last minute hitches.

Yesterday, February 21, 2021 saw Ghana Education Service (GES) disappoint parents, students, stakeholders and Ghana as a whole when it released a statement as to why it would not be able to release the much awaited for school placement for 2021.

The document was signed by Cassandra Twum Ampofo, Head of Public Relations Unit at the Ghana Education Service.

The document released sort to inform the general public that the management of Ghana Education Service is preparing sufficiently to release the Computerized School Placement soon.

According to the Service, their inability to release the school placement is due to the COVID-19 situation in Ghana. Again, GES sort to announce that it is setting up Call Centres across the country and other appropriate alternative measures to resolve all Placement related issues before it is released.

The management of GES has however assured parents, guardians, candidates and the general public to remain calm.

“GES is committed to ensuring a smooth, merit-based SHS placement process under established guidelines and look forward to their full cooperation in this regard”, the document stated.
