The New Educational Reform In Ghana (UPDATED): All You Need To Know As A Teacher

National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) has signaled that some critical features in the New Educational Reform In Ghana are to be implemented soonest in Ghana Educational System.

These reforms are structured under what was termed “Kindergarten (KG) to SHS New Curriculum” of Key Programmes. In the first four years of high school education, learners are to take a Common Core Programme that focuses on a set of high, internationally bench-marked career and tertiary education standards.

Learners need to acquire these for post-secondary education, the workplace or both. In the New Educational Reform In Ghana, the standards explain what learners are expected to know, comprehend and be able to put to practice by focusing on their social, emotional, cognitive and physical development.

The Common Core Program runs from Basic 7 through to Basic 10.

The common core attributes of the learner, which describe the essential outcomes in the three domains of learning (i.e. cognitive, psychomotor and affective) are at the centre of the Common Core Programs.

Inspired by the values which are important to the Ghanaian society, the Common Core Program provides an education of the heart, mind and hands in relation to on the learner’s lifetime values, well-being, physical development, psychological development and problem solving skills.
