Legacy Girls SHS: 13 Students Test Positive For COVID-19

Africa Education Watch, an Education Policy Research and Advocacy Organization working with Civil Society Organizations, Governments and the Private Sector, has taken to its Facebook Page to confirm that their outfit has taken notice of the letter from Legacy Girls SHS, informing parents that 13 students have tested positive for COVID-19.
“We commend the institution for being transparent in their management of COVID, unlike schools like the Christian High International School (CHIS) which has allegedly suppressed and kept ‘secret’ its COVID-19 case for over a week, without any record at the Dodowa District Health Directorate, and also failing to talk to any one including some parents”, the statement said.
The Education Policy Research and Advocacy Organization has wished the affected students a speedy recovery and call on the Ghana Health Service (GHS) to investigate why NO complaint was made by CHIS at the GHS District COVID-19 Centre.
“The GHS must ensure action is/has been taken to disinfest the school under its supervision”.
“Keeping COVID-19 cases of students secret for brand image purposes is unprofessional, unacceptable, an endangerment to public safety; and thus should not be encouraged in Ghana”, they noted.
The organization further said that COVID-19 is a public, not a private health emergency.
Africa Education Watch urged that we keep our schools safe by enforcing the observance of the COVID-19 Protocols, and reporting suspected cases quickly to the GHS for prompt action.
