Free SHS: We Made Schooling Like That Of America – NAPO

Honourable Member of Parliament for Manhyia South District, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh has said that his government made school like that of the American way of schooling.

According to him, after the implementation of Free SHS, enrollment in the various Senior High School increased exponentially.

According to him, after the enrollment of the Free SHS policy, 483,000 students had passed JHS and were ready to be enrolled in SHS. On the other hand, there were only 290,000 desks for smooth and effective learning.

With this figure, a total of 193,000 students would have had to stay home if not for the implementation of the Free SHS Policy.

To him, this was one of the many reasons the Free SHS Policy came into being. He stated that schools were made similar to that of America in the sense that Senior High School (SHS) students go to school in semesters.
