A Caution to President Akufo-Addo’s Lawyer

A lawyer of President Akufo-Addo, Mr. Frank Davies, today, has been cautioned by a Justice of the  Supreme Court, Justice Anin Yeboah for granting interviews after a sitting.

According to the judiciary, an announced lawyer to a case has no right to grant an interview after a sitting.

Mr. Anin said, it is against the Legal Professional Conduct and Ethic Rules of 2020.

The judge, (Justice Anin Yeboah) raised this uncomfortable matter and warned him to desist from granting interview after sittings as a caution to President Akufo-Addo’s Lawyer.

“Mr. Frank Davies, we respectfully want to draw your attention to the Legal Professional conduct and Ethical Rules of 2020. If you look at rule 38, the court is not comfortable with the post-trial interviews that you grant outside”, he said.

The judge quoted the rule, “A lawyer who is practicing or has participated in the investigation or litigation of a matter that is still pending before a court shall not make an out-of-court statement or grant an interview to the media on the matter.”
