Akosombo International School COVID-19 Cases
Report coming in from StarrFM on Thursday, February 4, 2021 suggests that at least 29 persons; 26 students and 3 teaching staff of the Eastern Region-based Akosombo International School (AIS) have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
The Akosombo International School COVID-19 cases outbreak came to light when the Management of the school conducted mass testing on COVID-19 for its students, teaching and non-teaching staff.
According to authorities of Akosombo International School, the affected individuals have been isolated and quarantined at a hotel, StarrFm reports.
Dr. Winfred Ofosu, the Eastern Regional Health Director when reached out for comment, confirmed the cases of the deadly virus in a school at the Asuogyaman District but refused to mention the name of the school.
She however noted that her office is yet to be briefed by the Asuogyaman District Health Directorate on the incident.
As of February 5, 2021, a total of 440 lives have died from Coronavirus in Ghana according to the Ghana Health Service. Active cases in the country stands at 6,086.
